Russell McClinton is a native of Birmingham, Alabama and has worked in the digital media industry for over 27 years. Currently he is a managing partner at Eventful Media Group, Inc. where he provides creative content to customers primarily in city government, entertainment, travel and business.

While in Huntsville, Russell worked as a contractor supporting NASA’s Consolidated Space Operations Contract as a Senior Network Security Engineer.
In 1999, Russell founded Urbanham.com, an online web portal that reaches over 20,000 people each month with event information and community news. In 2003 Russell and his business partner, Darren opened Media.Broadcast.Internet (MBI) a digital media company that offered web design, graphic design and digital media expertise to clients such as the University of Alabama at Birmingham, AT&T Alabama, Alabama Power, the Southwestern Athletic Conference, The City of Birmingham Office of the Mayor, Birmingham City Council, Jefferson County, Alabama; Perry County, Alabama; The Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, The Birmingham Jefferson Transportation Authority, The Birmingham Business Resource Center, Brown Forman, United Johnson Brothers of Alabama (Jack Daniels), Birmingham Beverage (Coors Light), Southern Progress, AOL/Time Warner, The Alabama Sports Foundation, ESPN, McWane Inc., and the Florida Lottery.
In 2010, Russell took his information technology and digital media background to the hospitality industry where he became a managing partner at the H-Bar, a piano bar located inside of the Hotel Highland and a spin-off location Jazz Underground both located in Birmingham, Alabama. Russell’s technical background and fresh approach to marketing through the use of social media and high-quality graphics was a key element in taking the H Bar to a level that received recognition from the State of Alabama Department of Tourism as one of the top spots to visit in the state.
From 2013 – 2018 Russell served as a consultant with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama as a Senior Front-End Developer. In this role Russell was responsible for the look and feel of the BCBSAL.org website and maintaining the video content for the human resources website.
Russell seeks any opportunity he can to stay ingrained in the community. In 2003, Russell founded Family Tech Day, an annual event that encouraged young people and those from disadvantage communities to pursue careers in technology. The event also promoted the use of technology in the home and business. Russell continues to support the community and small businesses through his popular website, Urbanham.com and hand on community activity. He also writes a blog for NetworkWithExperts.com called “I don’t do websites but if I did …” which offers advice on websites and marketing to small business owners.
Prior to his career in technology and digital media, Russell worked full-time as an Air Force Reserve Technician and served in the United States Air Force Reserve at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.
A note from Russell
They say if you find something you love you will never work again a day of your life. Well that’s not true. I love the work that we do here at EMG, Inc. for our clients but it is absolutely work! Considering I can’t spend my time working in the yard or watching sports 24/7 I am glad I have something else that I equally enjoy. Helping our clients create video content or imagery for their events or special projects is absolutely what I was meant to do. Then wrapping it all up in a creative marketing campaign is the icing on the cake! We consider ourselves to be the ultimate teammate and I am confident we will play our position well!
